First AMD X870 motherboard listings show September 30th launch

Board partners have been showcasing the latest X870 motherboards at events such as Computex, Gamescom, and IFA. Despite this, an official launch date or availability has yet to be confirmed. However, it seems this is about to change, with stores beginning to offer the new boards. There's even a release date in two of these entries, pointing to September 30th as the launch date for the X870(E) boards.

While some versions have been announced for several weeks, other motherboard manufacturers are gradually announcing them. Notably, this first wave of 800-series motherboards does not include any B850 motherboards, and the lack of B850 listings suggests they'll take a bit longer to release. Currently, only the X870 and X870E variants are available, and they're not cheap.

The new X870 motherboards have a higher price tag, starting at £200/€314 for a relatively basic model. It's important to note that these prices are not official and are subject to change at any time. Here's a compiled list of the pricing of all Asus and Gigabyte X870(E) motherboards (via @momomo_us) that have been found up to now:

  • Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero: £472.69 / €704.52
  • Asus ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WIFI: £385.14
  • Asus ROG Strix X870-I Gaming WIFI: £336.70
  • Asus ROG Strix X870-F Gaming WIFI: £336.70 / €489.90
  • Asus ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WIFI: £302.70 / €455.40
  • Asus TUF Gaming X870-PLUS WIFI: £257.66
  • Asus Prime X870-P WIFI: £213.46 / €328.44
  • Asus Prime X870-P: £199.87 / €314.16
  • Asus ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI: €547.20
  • Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WIFI7: £225.37 / €340.92 (19% VAT included)
  • Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WF7 ICE: £217.72 / €327.85 (19% VAT included)

Although it isn't clear if the EUR prices for Asus motherboards include VAT, we assume they do so considering the conversion ratio between £ and €. Another important note is the release date listed on the Amazon DE entries, which shows the Gigabyte Aorus boards are coming out on September 30th.

Prospective users of the Ryzen 9000 series should be aware that current X670 motherboards, often less expensive than those stated above, fully support these CPUs. You'll just need to update the BIOS, which can be easily done without a previous-generation CPU if the motherboard supports BIOS updates via USB.
