EK is making headlines this week with its new unique pump-reservoir-block combo. This is effectively a 4-in-1 product, making it ideal for those looking to save space while putting together a small form-factor build with custom liquid cooling.
The EK-Quantum Velocity² DDC 4.2 PWM D-RGB – 1700 is based around the Velocity² CPU water block, combining it with a DDC 4.2 PWM pump with a reservoir and a DDC heatsink. All of this is contained in a very small package. It is naturally larger than a standard CPU block, but you'll be saving a lot of space by eliminating the need for a separate pump and reservoir.
EK-Quantum Velocity² series CPU water blocks use a specific combination of mounting pressure and coldplate geometry tailored for the IHS and die layout of Intel LGA 1700 socket processors. Low hydraulic flow restriction enables these products to be used in setups with weaker water pumps or lower pump speeds for added silent operation while still being able to easily achieve top performance.
With this water block, you will not require a dedicated reservoir, as it incorporates a small reservoir to ease the filling process and ensure the water-lubricated DDC pump always has sufficient coolant not to run dry. It has two G1/4″ fill ports to account for both vertical and horizontal motherboard mounting and two sets of inlets and outlets.
The coldplate is manufactured out of the highest-grade, 99.99%-pure electrolytic copper, machined with precision for the best possible contact and heat transfer, and is further nickel-plated. The middle section is made of glass-like cast acrylic that is CNC-machined. On top of it stands the DDC pump with the block top made of CNC-machined nickel-plated brass.
The new EK-Exact Mount is used here, a patent-pending mounting system designed for ease-of-use. It comprises of three pieces – a backplate, mounting screws and the block itself. You secure the block in place from the back, allowing for a seamless aesthetic from the front.
New EK-Quantum Velocity² 1700 CPU water blocks are socket-specific, compatible only with Intel LGA 1700 sockets and Alder Lake CPUs. Soon, Intel will launch its 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs, which also support the LGA 1700 socket, but we do not have confirmation of forward compatibility with the block just yet.
As a 4-in-1 product, a lot of convenience is offered here, but it won't be cheap. This block will be available soon from the EK-webshop for €329.90.
