Cyberpunk 2077 surpasses 20 million copies sold

Ahead of its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 had millions of pre-orders and within two week's of the game's launch, around 13 million copies had been sold. Of course, that was before we all learned how bad the launch version was. This caused Cyberpunk 2077 sales to slow quite a bit in 2021, to the point where CD Projekt stopped sharing figures. That has now changed with the game's recent surge of popularity.

Thanks to the next-gen console launch, additional patches, free DLC and a hit anime series, Cyberpunk 2077 has now surpassed 20 million copies sold. That number will likely rise once again as we head towards the holiday season.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in the best place it has ever been. The anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, has given many a new appreciation for Night City and its setting. Many have also returned to the game after its 1.6 patch to see all of the improvements.

CD Projekt Red is not done with Cyberpunk 2077 though, the team is now working on new systems, including a complete revamp of the in-game police system. The team is also working on the first major expansion for the game, which is due to release for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in 2023.
