Xbox Games with Gold announced for October – with no X360 games

Each month, those with an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription are privy to receiving a number of free games. With Microsoft officially no longer offering OG Xbox and Xbox 360 titles as part of Games with Gold, those who are subscribed can look forward to receiving just two free games.

Making the announcement on the Xbox Blog, Dan Hickey, the Marketing Program Manager at Xbox said “It’s time to announce the October Games with Gold lineup! On Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, explore a mysterious paradise in Windbound and take to the skies in Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition.”

Windbound is an open-world survival game featuring a unique art style and a mysterious plot to uncover. In Windbound, you play as Kara, “a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed on to the shores of the Forbidden Islands, a mysterious paradise.”

Bomber Crew meanwhile is a World-war 2 strategic bombing sim “where completing the objective is just as important as keeping your crew alive, as death is permanent!”

As mentioned, previously Microsoft’s Games with Gold offerings would include 4 games in total: 2 Xbox One games; an OG Xbox title; and an Xbox 360 game. Unfortunately, Microsoft has dropped support for these older titles, meaning that from this moment forth, you should only expect 2 free games a month. Hopefully November’s titles are of slightly higher stature.
