Ubisoft will transfer games you own on Stadia to PC

Late last week Google announced that it would be shutting down its Stadia game streaming service. While unfortunate for those who invested in the service over the past few years, those who purchased any Ubisoft titles on the platform will be given PC copies of their games.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Ubisoft Support page said “While Stadia will shut down on January 18, 2023, we're happy to share that we're working to bring the games you own on Stadia to PC through Ubisoft Connect. We'll have more to share regarding specific details as well as the impact for Ubisoft+ subscribers at a later date.”

Following the announcement that Stadia would be shutting down, Google did confirm that hardware and software purchases of Stadia accessories and games would be eligible for a full refund. What this means for those with Ubisoft games is unknown – it is possible you might be able to get a refund AND still keep the game.

The closure of any service is typically a messy ordeal and so to see Ubisoft doing what it can to alleviate some of the annoyance related to Google’s lack of commitment is commendable.
