Some Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition cards have their memory running at 16Gbps out-of-the-box

The Intel Arc A770's official specifications list the graphics card as featuring a memory speed of 17.5Gbps. However, customers are getting cards with their memory clocked at 16Gbps. As of now, Intel has yet to make an official response to this issue.

As a reminder, the Intel Arc A770 comes with either 16GB of VRAM running at 17.5Gbps or 8GB at 16Gbps, but the Limited Edition is only available with 16GB. That means that the card's memory should run at 17.5Gbps out-of-the-box, but customer reports suggest otherwise.

As it seems, many A770 samples have their memory running at 16Gbps, at least according to the screenshots of GPU-Z posted on Github. The card's VRAM running at the correct speed will be displayed with a memory clock of 2,187, whereas the ones running at 16Gbps will have a memory clock of 2,00MHz. This reduction in memory speed limits the card to a maximum bandwidth of 512GB/s, down from the 560GB/s featured in the card's official specifications.

To ensure that the problem is not limited to GPU-Z, Arc A770 owners tried other GPU monitoring tools. Unfortunately, the clock speed remained unaltered. At the moment, it's unclear what's causing this issue.
