Overwatch 2 hit by DDOS attacks

Last night's Overwatch 2 launch did not go as smoothly as Blizzard would have hoped. While we've seen connection issues or long log-in queues with other Blizzard launches, in the case of Overwatch 2, it appears the situation was spurred by a mass DDOS attack.

According to Blizzard President, Mike Ybarra, Overwatch 2 servers began getting hit by DDOS attacks last night shortly after servers opened up to players. This resulted in a lot of connection issues and players dropping in and out of the game. Blizzard also added a log-in queue to deal with demand.

Due to the issue, Blizzard has added a warning to the game's Battle.net page, confirming the team is aware of issues some players are having trying to log in to the game.

At this point, the connection issues seem to have partly subsided. I played a few matches this morning and while I did see the log-in queue at first, I got into the game swiftly afterwards. That could change later this evening due to peak time traffic.
