Over the past few years, we have seen Sony slowly but surely bring its library of PlayStation exclusive games to PC. That being said, this process has been rather slow. Fortunately, future live-service titles will launch day-and-date across both PS5 and PC.
Hermen Hulst, the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, recently sat down with French YouTuber Julien Chieze, where the executive spoke on all manner of topics. Most interestingly, Hulst discussed the potential for future PlayStation releases to come to other platforms in a quicker manner, saying:
“I think going forward we’ll see at least a year between releases on our own platform on PlayStation and on the PC platform, possibly with the exception of live-service games.”
Explaining this point further, Hulst added, “Live service games are a little bit different in nature because you want to have a really strong community; strong engagement right away – right when you go live. So, we might in the case of live-service offerings go day-and-date with PC and the PlayStation platform.”
Sony previously announced that the console manufacturer has multiple live-service games in development. One which has already been officially announced is The Last of Us Factions – the ambitious multiplayer shooter. Though no release date has been given for the game, it is exciting to know that when it does launch, it will be available on both PC and PS5 at the exact same time.
