Eidos Montréal reportedly working on a new IP as well as Deus Ex

Back in May, it was announced that Embracer Group was set to acquire Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, Square Enix Montréal as well as a litany of IPs. While it has now been revealed that Square Enix Montréal is being shut down, Eidos Montréal is fortunately still kicking, with the studio reportedly working on multiple projects – including a brand-new Deus Ex title.

Following the announcement that Embracer Group is planning to shut down Square Enix Montréal, industry insider Jason Schreier took to Twitter to offer some details on what its sister studio – Eidos Montréal – is working on.

According to Schreier, Eidos Montréal currently has three projects in the works. Firstly, the studio is working on a brand-new IP. Few details were provided, aside from the claim that this game has recently been rescoped in some capacity.

The second game Eidos is working on is a new entry in the much-loved Deus Ex franchise. With the most recent game releasing all the way back in 2016, it is safe to assume that fans are itching for a new Deus Ex title. That being said, according to Schreier, this game is in “very very early” development, meaning fans will likely be waiting quite a while for any details on this title.

The final game Eidos is said to be working on is the upcoming Fable game from Xbox. It is worth noting however that development on this title is headed by Playground Games, with Eidos taking on the role of co-developer.

Though it is highly unfortunate that Square Enix Montréal is shutting down, it is encouraging at least to see that Eidos is still hanging around and working on some rather exciting titles.
