Alan Wake Remastered surprise drops onto Nintendo Switch

Alan Wake Remastered, an enhanced version of the 2010 cult classic action thriller from Remedy Entertainment, dropped onto current and last-gen systems in October 2021. The remaster made it onto all modern systems except one: The Nintendo Switch. In a surprise move, Alan Wake has now also come to Nintendo’s handheld hybrid.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Alan Wake account said “Bright Falls, where fiction blends with reality and the Dark Presence has taken hold. An ideal Halloween escape, you might say. Great, because Alan Wake Remastered is out now on Nintendo Switch at a 20% discount! Whatever you do, stay in the light #AlanWake.”

Unlike Control, the last release from Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake Remastered for Switch is not a Cloud version, instead being a native port to the system. Despite it being remastered, the game was originally an Xbox 360 title and so it is not too surprising to see it come to Switch. What is surprising is the manner in which they released it – shadow dropping the game onto the Nintendo eShop with little to no pre-warning.

While we will have to wait and see how the game performs on the system, Alan Wake Remastered coming to Switch is perfect timing for Halloween.
