RTX 4080 overclocking and gaming benchmarks emerge

The RTX 4080 is less than a week away from launch and sure enough, we are starting to see more benchmark leaks. Despite the considerable spec difference between the 4080 and 4090, some early gaming benchmarks show that the performance gap between the two GPUs might not be as large as anticipated in certain titles.

After the first set of the RTX 4080 benchmark results, VideoCardz leaked a few more 3DMark Time Spy Extreme scores for the 4080. However, these new scores include the card running with an unlimited power limit and OC (also unlimited PL). At stock, the GPU got a graphics score of 13,778 points, but it increased to 14,200 by increasing the power limit to the max. The last 3DMark Time Spy Extreme score we have is the card running overclocked, achieving a respectable 15,602 points. Compared to the stock RTX 4090, that's about 20% less.

3DMark Speed Way and Port Royal scores have also emerged. In these tests, the 4080 scored 7,750 and 18,941 points, respectively, while overclocked. In Port Royal, the RTX 4090 is still around 30% faster.

Moving on to the gaming benchmark results shared at Chiphell, we have the RTX 4080 paired with a Ryzen 5 7600X. This system got an average of 127FPS in Forza Horizon 5 and an average of 127FPS in COD MWII. Overall, that's relatively close to what you would expect from the RTX 4090. However, in games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider (129FPS), Red Dead Redemption 2 (99FPS) and Cyberpunk 2077 (83FPS), the difference looks to be much more significant.

The Nvidia RTX 4080 will release on November 16th, meaning we'll be able to see if these results are accurate very soon.
