Multiple companies are using Paragon’s assets to make new MOBAs

Last month, we reported that Netmarble F&C was bringing Epic Game’s cancelled MOBA ‘Paragon’ back in the form of Paragon: Overprime. Another game also built on Paragon’s assets is Predecessor, with the team at Omeda Studios now announcing the game’s Early Access launch date.

Making the announcement, the team at Omeda Studios released a new trailer for the upcoming game, saying “On December 1st, Predecessor Early Access will be available on the Epic Games Store and Steam! Predecessor is a fast-paced action game that combines MOBA and FPS gameplay to put you at the heart of the fight with strategic choice, third person control and immersive action.”

As mentioned, this isn’t the only game to use the assets released by Epic Games for free following the cancellation of its own MOBA Paragon, with another – known as Paragon: Overprime – also being formed from the ashes of the former. Unlike Predecessor however, Paragon: Overprime has yet to receive a release date.

Considering the fact that both games share assets to some degree, it will be interesting to see how these two titles compare both visually, but more importantly gameplay wise. The map, items, progression, store and more are all different, and so hopefully each game manages to find its audience.
