Unlike consoles, PC players have many options to choose from when it comes to video game stores and clients. Two of the biggest are the Epic Games Store and CD Projekt’s GOG Galaxy. In an interesting move by both parties, GOG Galaxy is now available to download through the Epic Games Store.
Going to the Epic Games store, you can now find a GOG Galaxy app available to download. For the uninitiated, GOG Galaxy is a PC game launcher which allows you to “Discover a hand-picked selection of Good Old Games and great modern releases you can play offline. Create your cross-platform library – launch, play, and manage your games from GOG, Epic Games, and more.”
As mentioned in the description, one of GOG Galaxy’s primary features is the ability for the client to be used to access other non-GOG games – including from the Epic Games Store.
While this addition does have some sense behind it, it is still odd nonetheless to see the Epic Games Store PC client and storefront allowing you to download competing game client GOG Galaxy.
From now until early November, players can get their hands on two free games (Genesis Alpha One Deluxe Edition and Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Collection) by downloading GOG Galaxy through Epic Games. It will be interesting to see how the relationship between these two competing clients compares over time.
