Each month, those who are subscribed to Xbox Live Gold are able to get their hands on a number of free games. Ever since the launch of Game Pass however, the Games with Gold offerings have dwindled in value, with November’s games being rather paltry.
Making the announcement on their blog, Dan Hickey, the Marketing Program Manager at Xbox said “Get ready for the November Games with Gold lineup! On Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, prove your worth on the battlefields of Praetorians – HD Remaster and then bust up some ghosts in Dead End Job.”
As mentioned, the two games on offer are ‘Praetorians – HD Remaster’ and ‘Dead End Job’ respectively: two relatively unknown games, with the former being a remaster of an old school real-time strategy title, and the latter being a procedurally generated couch co-op slapsticky spooky comedy.
Previously, Microsoft’s Games with Gold offerings would include 4 games in total: 2 Xbox One games; an OG Xbox title; and an Xbox 360 game. Unfortunately, Microsoft has dropped support for these older titles, meaning that you should only expect 2 free games a month. Some fans were hoping that this would result in fewer but higher quality titles – though this does not seem to be the case.
Even though its subscription system is different, Xbox Game Pass offers significantly more value when compared to Xbox Live Gold – especially as Game Pass Ultimate includes Games with Gold. Hopefully Microsoft overhauls its Games with Gold program soon.
