While Capcom may be more popular than they have ever been, the publisher has in some ways reduced its output, focusing on its more successful IPs instead of legacy franchises. That said, following the recent reveal of the Dead Rising remaster, Capcom have claimed that they plan to “bring back many” of their dormant IPs.
The upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster represents first appearance of the IP since 2016’s Dead Rising 4, with Capcom claiming that this marks just the beginning of their revitalisation of older franchises, saying in an interview with IGN:
“Capcom would like to continue to bring back many of its IPs” adding that “In hopes of expanding upon the Dead Rising series in the future, we’d first like to put effort into promoting Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and share its appeal with fans around the world.”
Just some of Capcom’s various properties which have not seen a proper new entry in a while include Onimusha; Dino Crisis; Marvel vs Capcom; Mega Man’s many spin-offs and Bionic Commando – to name a few.
It’ll be interesting to see which franchises Capcom decides are worth another go. We will have to wait and see. The full interview can be found HERE.
