Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 pre-load is 56GB on PC

For years, Call of Duty install sizes have been ballooning across all platforms. At this point, the game tends to eat up hundreds of gigabytes worth of valuable SSD space. However, things may soon change for the better, as Black Ops 6 is set to take up just 60GB of space on PC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 may have the smallest file size for a COD game in years. On PC, the initial download for the game's campaign and multiplayer modes, take up just 56GB of space during the pre-load period, as spotted by VGC. Similarly, Charlie Intel has observed the game coming in at around 40GB on PS5.

Of course, once Warzone drops, that install size will creep up. On top of that, the Call of Duty hub, which contains options to install several campaigns and multiplayer modes from other COD releases, will continue to eat up a lot of space depending on how much you choose to install.

It is also worth noting that the official PC system requirements for the game call for 102GB of available storage space, so while the initial download might be smaller, the game will undoubtedly end up using more space over time. The pre-load also doesn't include the Zombies mode, which is its own game mode as well.

Hopefully this is a sign that future versions of COD will finally reduce file sizes back down to sensible levels. It will also be interesting to see how the day-one install size compares to the game's size in six months' time, once Warzone and a couple of post-launch seasons have dropped.
