Zotac was at Gamescom 2024 to show off the upcoming gaming handheld that it has been working on and share more details. Besides pricing, Zotac also hinted at an imminent release of the portable console, which has been corroborated by various retailers.
The Zone is powered by the Ryzen 7 8840U, the same silicon found in the Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen 7040 series. Although there are slight differences in NPU performance (or is absent), the underlying architecture for all these chips is Zen 4 and RDNA 3 (Radeon 780M). Power profiles, thermal characteristics, and clock rates are still expected to influence performance.
According to the listings gathered by VideoCardz, the Zone has started appearing in various European countries, including Germany (CaseKing), the UK (Scan), and Poland (X-Kom), priced at €849/£849/zł3,899, respectively. These prices are comparable to the ROG Ally X, which is priced similarly in the same regions.
Based on the Caseking listing, we can expect the Zone to be available on September 12th. However, the Polish store anticipates it will be available on September 23rd. All three retailers are accepting pre-orders.
