It has been years since Ubisoft announced the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake and has seemingly been stuck in development hell since. It has been a long time since the last significant update on the game, but Ubisoft is now speaking out to let everybody know that it is not cancelled.
Originally planned to release in early 2020, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake was initially delayed so the development team could address feedback regarding the art style and graphics shown in the reveal trailer. Eventually, Ubisoft moved the project away from its Pune and Mumbai studios and put Ubisoft Montreal in charge of development.
In an FAQ published this week, Ubisoft confirms that the remake is not cancelled. However, the publisher also does not have any meaningful announcements to make at this time, so there does not seem to be a new release date in sight yet. Due to the lack of release date, pre-orders for the game have been cancelled. Ubisoft will reopen pre-orders when the game has a release date.
The post also confirms that The Sands of Time will be the only title getting a remake. Currently, there are no plans to remake the other games.

KitGuru Says: From the sounds of it, this remake won't be coming within the next 12 months. It seemed Ubisoft underestimated the quality bar expected from a remake over a remaster, which has led to a much longer and more expensive development cycle.
