Prior to the success of the Nintendo Switch, there was a lot of concern about Nintendo's future in the gaming business, as the Wii U struggled to gain any momentum in the market. At that time, Nintendo turned to mobile gaming to boost its revenues to great success. Now, Nintendo is bolstering its partnership with DeNA further.
Nintendo partnered with DeNA for its very first mobile games, including the likes of Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and more. Now, Nintendo is forming a new co-owned company with DeNA for future mobile projects.
“Based on the expertise accumulated over the seven plus years and the experience of co-developing multiple services based on Nintendo Account, Nintendo and DeNA will advance their partnership and establish a joint venture company”.
The goal of this partnership will be to further strengthen Nintendo's digital business. The new company will also research and develop new membership services for various devices.
