Ubisoft’s reboot of The Settlers is finally launching in February 2023

Back in 2018, Ubisoft announced plans to bring back ‘The Settlers’ with a new, modern-day version of the RTS. Initially, we were expecting to see it release in 2019, but it was pushed back to 2020. Then, in 2020, the game was delayed until 2022 and sure enough, earlier this year, it was delayed again. Now, Ubisoft seems to be aiming for an early 2023 launch.

The Settlers is in development at Ubisoft studio, Blue Byte. Over the course of development, the studio has been receiving feedback from players and undergoing private playtests. Following previous delays, The Settlers reboot was due to launch in March this year, but due to closed beta feedback, the game was delayed again. Now, Ubisoft has announced plans to release the game under the name ‘The Settlers: New Allies' on the 17th of February.

That February release date only applies to the PC version of the game. Ubisoft is also working on console ports for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. The publisher also has plans to ship the game on Amazon's Luna cloud gaming service.

The game will feature a full single-player campaign, a hardcore mode and a skirmish mode that can be played solo or in co-op against AI, or in PvP mode. Ubisoft will reveal more gameplay during a stream on the 1st of December at 4PM CET.

KitGuru Says: The Settlers has seen its fair share of delays over the last few years, but hopefully this release date finally sticks.
