Just as promised, the nominees for this year's Game Awards have been revealed today. Since God of War Ragnarok released on time, the game is eligible for awards in this year's show and sure enough, it is nominated for the coveted GOTY award.
God of War Ragnarok was actually the ‘most nominated' game for GOTY selection, with Elden Ring coming in a little bit behind. The full list of games nominated for GOTY at The Game Awards includes:
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Elden Ring
- God of War Ragnarok
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Stray
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3
While Cyberpunk 2077 didn't win GOTY for the year it came out, the Cyberpunk franchise is getting a second wind in this year's TGAs. The Best Adaptation award recognises film and TV adaptations of various game franchises. This year, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is up for the best adaptation award, joined by the likes of Arcane, Cuphead, Sonic and Uncharted.
Best RPG nominees include Elden Ring, Live A Live, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Triangle Strategy and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Best Action Adventure nominees include God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, Tunic and A Plague Tale: Requiem.
The Best Indie list this year includes some very recognisable names, like Stray, Sifu, Neon White, Cult of the Lamb and Tunic. This category in particular is missing a pretty big nominee – Vampire Survivors, which has been a hit on Steam and Game Pass, garnering wide praise for its addictive gameplay.

KitGuru Says: If I had to guess, I'd put God of War as the GOTY winner, and then Elden Ring will likely win a different category, like Best RPG. What do you think of this year's nominees? Which game do you think will win GOTY?
