All Saints Row IV PC owners will receive a free upgrade as game gets crossplay

Saints Row IV first released all the way back in 2013, with the open world sandbox title later receiving a re-elected edition in 2015 for the then-next-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles which included all the previously-released DLC. Almost a decade after the game’s original release, all PC owners of Saints Row IV will be able to upgrade to the Re-Elected version for free.

Making the announcement on the game’s Steam page, Deep Silver revealed that “on December 8th we will be upgrading all copies of Saints Row IV to Saints Row IV: Re-Elected”. What this means is that anyone who owns Saints Row on PC in any capacity will be upgraded, and as such, will receive all of the previously-released DLC for free.

Though not the most game-changing downloadable content, all in all the Re-Elected Edition will net you more than two dozen pieces of DLC, including the ‘Enter the Dominatrix’ mission and the ‘Anime Pack’ – to name just two.

Fortunately, the upgrade will not affect your saves nor your achievements, and so the transition between editions should be rather seamless. Speaking of seamless, Saints Row IV will also be receiving crossplay on PC, meaning no matter your storefront of choice, all PC players will be able to create mayhem together.

It is interesting to see the team make such a move, especially in the wake of the Saints Row Reboot’s relative failure. Hopefully that game receives just as much long-term support as Saints Row IV has.
