The RTX 4080 launches this week and just ahead of reviews, a new batch of gaming benchmarks have leaked onto the web. Originating from a China, we now have benchmark results for a wide range of titles, including the likes of Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5 and more.
The review shared on bilibili (via VideoCardz) comes from the same person that shared the first RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti gaming benchmark results. The RTX 4080 is compared to the RTX 4090 and an RTX 3090 Ti. It's also worth noting that the tested systems are different. The RTX 4080 one has DDR5-6200 memory, while the other two have DDR5-6800. All systems use Core i9-13900K CPUs.
The undisclosed RTX 4080 model looks to come with two BIOS, one with a 320W power target and another one with 450W. Using the former, the RTX 4080 (320W BIOS) outperformed the RTX 3090 Ti by 25%, but it was 21% slower than RTX 4090 across the 3DMark benchmarks. In gaming, the RTX 4080 was 19% faster than RTX 3090 Ti card but still 23% slower than the RTX 4090.
The peak efficiency in 3DMark seems to be around 280W, but in Cyberpunk 2077, 260W also looked like a plausible option. We do see diminishing returns when cranking the power all the way up too. In Cyberpunk 2077 and Time Spy Extreme, pushing the load from 260/280W up to 450W only increased performance by 6%.
