System Shock studio is working on 5 different projects

Nightdive Studios is currently best known for their ongoing work on the System Shock reboot, which is planned for release in 2023. That being said, the team currently has much more in the works, with 5 projects said to be currently in development.

Stephen Kick, the CEO of Nightdive Studios, recently took to Twitter to say “We @NightdiveStudio have at least 5 titles releasing in 2023 – but one of our teams is in the exploration stage. What would you like us to work on? Be sure to include the title with your choice.”

It is interesting not only to see that the team is working on 5 separate projects concurrently, but that they are consulting their fans regarding what they should work on next.

The Tweet was accompanied by a poll which offered 4 options:

  • Classic Remaster
  • Remake of NDS IP
  • Spiritual successor
  • Original IP

With over 7,000 votes, the winner of the poll was for the team to work on a remaster of a classic – sort of like what they are currently doing with System Shock.

Since their founding in 2010, Nightdive Studios has focused primarily on porting and remastering other studios’ titles, and so remastering a classic would certainly be in the company’s wheelhouse. That being said, with 5 projects currently in development, it is safe to assume that at least one of those is an original title – though we will have to wait and see.
