Final Fantasy XVI won’t have any loading

One of the biggest console exclusive games set to release in 2023 is the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI. Developed exclusively for the PlayStation 5 (at least for now), the game’s producer has discussed some of the benefits afforded to the team thanks to being on PS5 – including the fact that the game will supposedly not feature any loading screens.

In a recent livestream discussing the MMO Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), the Director of Final Fantasy XIV (14) and Producer for the upcoming FFXVI (16), spoke briefly on the PlayStation 5 exclusive title and in the particular the most recent ‘Revenge’ trailer, saying (as translated by Twitter user Genki_JPN):

“It’s all real-time rendering (the latest trailer) No loading! It’s become a game that is like, ‘Look at the power of the PS5!’”

Mainline Final Fantasy titles have historically taken advantage of each game’s target hardware, with graphics in particular being pushed to the maximum quite often. Interestingly, some of the earlier FFXVI trailers failed to impress visually, but over the months and years we have seen a marked increase in the visuals showcased. It will be interesting to see just how impressive the game is when it releases in June.
