Fallout 76 grows to more than 13.5 million players

Though it launched in a somewhat laughable state, Fallout 76 has continually been updated since its release back in 2018 – bringing the live service title much closer to what fans would expect from a modern Bethesda Fallout title. Four years into its life, Fallout 76 continues to grow, with a total player count almost reaching 15 million.

Releasing a blog post titled ‘fallout 76: A Look Back At 2022’ the team said “Welcome back to Inside the Vault! Fallout 76 has grown significantly over the past year, with players worldwide experiencing all sort of happenings across Appalachia from travelling roadshows to extraterrestrial invasions! As the year ends, we wanted to reflect on those memorable events, updates and improvements that came to Fallout 76 in 2022. Before we begin, we want to first celebrate our community's accomplishments using something we all enjoy: big numbers!”

With that, the team revealed that since its launch in 2018, Fallout 76 has amassed a player base of over 13.5 million players – an increase of 2.5 million compared to this time last year.

That is not all however, as these millions of players have in total spent almost 50 Billion caps at player shops (48,260,495,834 caps to be exact). Additionally Fallout’s favourite soft drink Nuka-Cola has been consumed over 127 million times (127,062,214).

Of course, Bethesda also shared just how much destruction players have taken part in, with a little under 3 million nukes being launched by players throughout the year.

Considering just how bad Fallout 76 was at launch, it is exciting to see Bethesda continue to support the game, improving it year-on-year – especially as this is being met by an equal amount of support from the community itself. Hopefully 2023 is Fallout 76’s best year yet.
