Because of its price-performance ratio at launch, the GTX 1060 quickly became a favourite for gamers. Proof of that is the many years it stood at the top of the GPU usage chart on Steam. However, we now have a new popularity king on the gaming platform, the GTX 1650.
With 0.66% percentage points won from October to November, the GTX 1650 has become the most popular GPU on Steam. At the same time, the GTX 1060 lost 1.85% percentage points, pushing the former chart leader to second place.
Like the GTX 1060, which released with 3GB and 6GB of VRAM, the GTX 1650 is also available with different types of memory (GDDR5 and GDDR6). The chart is likely considering both variants of the two GPUs, which might explain their overwhelming popularity compared to the others.
After these two, you can the RTX 2060 is currently in third place, followed by various Nvidia xx60 and xx50 GPUs, which isn't all that surprising. The first non-xx60 or -xx50 you'll see is the RTX 3070 in ninth place.
KitGuru says: Seeing this data, it's clear that the mid-range segment still is where most gamers are. AMD, Intel and Nvidia all have solutions for this segment, but there has been an increasing focus on the high-end market in recent generations.
