RTX 40-series vs RX 7900 XTX/XT: Power draw and efficiency!

Today we take a closer look at power draw and performance per watt for both the Nvidia RTX 40-series and AMD RX 7900-series graphics cards. We do look at this as part of our day one reviews, but today's content dives deeper than just the average figures, as we analyse the power and efficiency data on a per-game and per-resolution basis for this new generation of gaming GPUs.

Some of you may already be familiar with the power testing we do as part of our day-1 GPU reviews here at KitGuru. It's a topic we've previously covered when we originally updated our GPU power testing methodology back in May 2021, and we've been including power draw and performance per Watt figures on a per-game, per-resolution basis in every single GPU launch review since then.

This video is primarily aimed at our YouTube audience, who may not see all of the content in our written reviews. It is still an interesting area of discussion, so if you haven't checked our our recently RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT reviews, or either the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090, this is well worth a watch. Even if you did read the reviews but want a refresher, we cover several games in the video, each with varying results, before coming to the conclusion that Ada Lovelace has a clear efficiency advantage.

KitGuru says: Power draw and efficiency is an area of testing that I find particularly interesting, and hopefully this gives an insight into how we test, with a closer look at performance from all four current generation GPUs.
