Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Special Edition Switch seemingly leaked

Unlike previous generations, Nintendo has remained somewhat conservative when it comes to releasing special edition versions of the Nintendo Switch. That being said, it seems a bespoke version of the handheld is planned for release alongside the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with images of the device leaking months ahead of time.

Initially posted on the Chinese forum Tieba (which has previously leaked Switch hardware images), pictures claiming to show off the limited edition Nintendo Switch for the upcoming Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were shared.

If these images are to be believed, the console will take on a two-toned approach, with the OLED Switch’s dock adding gold accents to the white base.

The handheld itself will seemingly not include any special artwork, though the Joy-Cons more than make up for this with a rather flashy appearance, being gold and white with green accents – representing the corruption taking over Link as seen in the many trailers released so far.

Of course, as with all leaks this should be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, considering the fact that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was originally planned for release in 2022, it is entirely possible that this special edition Switch has long been ready, making the legitimacy of these leaks much more likely. Still, we will have to wait and see.
