Souls-Like ‘Remnant From the Ashes’ sequel revealed

The 2022 Game Awards has come and gone, and brought with it a great deal of new game announcements. In a surprise reveal, the 2019 souls-like Remnant From the Ashes was announced to be receiving a sequel.

For the uninitiated, Remnant From the Ashes is a Souls-like developed by Gunfire Games. As is in the studio’s name, Remnant From the Ashes featured similar weighty and thoughtful combat as seen in FromSoftware titles – but with guns instead.

Building upon the solid foundations of the first game, Remnant 2 is being developed exclusively for current-gen systems (plus PC) and “pits survivors of humanity against new deadly creatures and god-like bosses across terrifying worlds” in which you can “play solo or co-op with two other friends to explore the depths of the unknown to stop an evil from destroying reality itself.”

While the first game was fun in its own right, Remnant 2 will improve upon the formula further, featuring an “expanded Archetype system [which] provides players with unique passive bonuses and stunning powers.”

Additionally, “Branching quest lines, augments, crafting, and loot rewards will test the resolve of even the most hardened players in dynamically generated dungeons and areas.”

As mentioned, the first game offered satisfying gunplay with decent exploration and a unique aesthetic. It is exciting to see the team at Gunfire Games refining the Remnant experience further. Hopefully we get to see more from the game ahead of its release sometime in 2023.
