Square Enix VP teases a big Final Fantasy announcement for 2023

Despite its recent focus on NFTs, Square Enix hasn't yet forgotten about traditional gaming. Take the Final Fantasy series, for example. In 2023, we'll get Final Fantasy XVI and hear more about the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but that's not all. According to Yoshinori Kitase, there's also a big announcement unrelated to Final Fantasy VII slated for 2023.

Square Enix's vice president and Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase has started Final Fantasy's New Year message by reminding us of how close we are to the launch of Final Fantasy XVI, asking readers to support Naoki Yoshida and his team in their last effort to complete the game's development. Moreover, he said that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's development is going well, promising more details soon.

According to Square Enix's VP there will be “another big announcement unrelated to FFVII”. It's unclear which game this is, but if we consider the latest rumours and leaks linked to the Final Fantasy series, we might have a clue about this big announcement.

GeForce Now's massive leak was on point regarding a PC version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake and the Chrono Cross and Tactics Ogre Reborn remasters, so we wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again. In this same leak, there were other Square Enix titles that haven't been released yet, including Final Fantasy Tactics remaster and the remake of Final Fantasy 9. Either of these two would certainly cause quite a stir for series fans.
