Bayonetta 3 gets major 1.2.0 update

Bayonetta 3 released late last year to a somewhat mixed reception, due mainly to the game’s performance, but also a general sense of incompleteness when it comes to the final finishing touches typically seen during the ending stretch of development. Though unfortunate that the game did not launch in its current state, a new major patch has been released featuring dozens of improvements.

Available right now, Bayonetta 3’s 1.2.0 update brings with it changes to combat, difficulty, game modes and more, with some of the most impactful improvements including:

  • Almost a dozen combat adjustments, with a primary focus on Viola’s character
  • Added an additional animation when Witch Time takes effect, making its activation easier to realize.
  • The allotted duration of Witch Time, and its activation window have been lengthened.
  • Now, combo can continue (with Dodge Offset) when player uses Block to activate Witch Time
  • If the Block input is used repeatedly, the granted Witch Time duration will decrease.
  • Over half a dozen Niflheim stage conditions have been lowered in difficulty
  • Conditions for obtaining the “Tricolored Keys” needed to unseal the “Old Picture Book” have been made easier
  • Adjustments have been made to the Golem Treasure Chests found in stages.
  • Almost a dozen bug fixes

As mentioned, these are just a few of the many changes and improvements brought about by this latest update. With patch 1.2.0, Bayonetta 3 is starting to feel much more like the experience intended by PlatinumGames. Unfortunately, performance has yet to be improved. Maybe with the next update.
