Final Fantasy XVI producer responds to PC release rumours

Final Fantasy XVI has been labelled as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, with no other version officially announced – not even a PC release. That said, certain marketing materials have suggested that the game might have a 6 month exclusivity window on PlayStation, with it then coming to PC. The game’s producer has now refuted this…somewhat.

As part of a mahjong tournament celebrating the new year, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida [Yoshi-P] briefly addressed the rumours claiming a PC launch of FFXVI will be released shortly after the PS5 version, saying (as translated by ‘Genki_JPN’):

“Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like a PC version is releasing 6 months later? Don't worry about that, buy a PS5! (laughs) Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best so please look forward to it.”

From the wording of the message, it seems as though Yoshi-P is being careful not to outright deny the claims (especially as they are most likely at least somewhat true), but he of course chooses to focus on the official platform in which the game has been announced for.

As with previous Final Fantasy games, FFXVI is most likely going to come to PC at some point in the future – as did FFVII Remake – and so while perhaps disappointing there is no multi-platform release day-one, PC users can take solace in that fact.
