A620 motherboards spotted online, cheaper boards for Ryzen 7000 CPUs incoming

Current AMD AM5 motherboards are generally considered pricier than they should be, but some lower-cost alternatives might finally be on the way. Gigabyte has submitted the first AMD A620 motherboards to the EEC, suggesting PC builders will soon have an entry-level option to pair with Ryzen 7000 series desktop chips.

The EEC submission spotted by VideoCardz shows six new Gigabyte motherboards, of which five are based on the upcoming AMD A620 chipset. These five boards are the Gigabyte B560M DS3H Plus, Gigabyte A620M D3H, Gigabyte A620M DS3H, Gigabyte A620M S2H, Gigabyte A620M H, and Gigabyte A620M K. Moreover, VideoCardz also found a listing over at Goofish of the Asus TUF Gaming A620M-PLUS D5, further suggesting these boards are right around the corner.

As of now, there are not many reports or rumours regarding the specifications of these A620 boards. However, it's fair to assume they won't be as feature-rich as the B650/X670 boards. Not only will they probably lack overclocking support, but they also should have fewer PCIe lanes and USB ports than their more expensive counterparts. Based on AMD's presentation of the Ryzen 7000 series, we assume these boards will support PCIe 4.0 and DDR5 memory.

When AMD announced the Ryzen 7000 series, the company stated that motherboards would start at $125. However, the cheapest boards we can currently find are priced at around $160, which is considerably above the promised value. Now that the A620 are coming, we may finally see AMD fulfil its promise.

KitGuru says: AMD has been having some issues selling Ryzen 7000 series chips, but with the launch of A620, the entry point for the platform will drop to a more reasonable level. Adding some DDR4 options would further reduce the minimum users would have to spend to get into the AM5 platform, but that doesn't seem like it will happen.
