Nvidia RTX 40 Laptop GPUs to come with a maximum TGP of 175W

The rumour mill has been claiming for a while now that Nvidia will launch the first RTX 40 series GPUs for laptops in early 2023. According to a new report, these GPUs will come with a maximum TGP of 175W, and there will be five SKUs to cover laptops across the price spectrum. 

According to Wccftech, the RTX 40 laptop series will include five GPUs: RTX 4090, RTX 4080, RTX 4070, RTX 4060 and RTX 4050. Despite having five different models, the report claims there will only be three TGP configurations, all with Dynamic Boost (DB) included. These are 175W (150W+25W DB) for the RTX 4090 and 4080, 140W (115W+25W DB) for the RTX 4070 and 4060 and 4050, and 95W (85W+10W DB) for the RTX 4060 and 4050. If accurate, Nvidia may have ‘high power' and ‘low power' versions of the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 for laptops, so buyers will need to double-check the rated TGP of the GPU to know exactly which version they'll be getting.

The report also claims that the RTX 4050 can boost up to 2.37GHz, while the RTX 4070 will reportedly boost up to 2.17GHz. The RTX 4080 will reportedly boost up to 2.28GHz and the RTX 4090 will reportedly boost up to just over 2GHz. Clock speeds for the RTX 4060 were not shared.

Nvidia is holding a keynote at CES on the 3rd of January, so we may get some official news on this then.
