Marvel’s Avengers is being delisted in September

Marvel’s Avengers hasn’t had the most comfortable of existences, with the game launching to criticism – and its post-launch updates doing little to improve the consensus. All that said, it still comes as a huge surprise that Marvel’s Avengers is being wholly delisted later this year, meaning it will no longer be available to purchase.

Making this surprise announcement on their blog, the Marvel’s Avengers Development Team revealed that that the game will soon cease being updated, saying: “After two-and-a-half years and introducing twelve of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, following Update 2.8 on March 31, 2023, we will no longer add new content or features to Marvel’s Avengers. All official support for the game will end on September 30, 2023.”

For those who are still playing the game, don’t expect any major new additions prior to its end-of-life, as update 2.8 will merely include “final balance updates”. That said, players will soon be able to get all of the game’s cosmetic content released since launch entirely for free when patch 2.8 goes live at the end of March.

As part of the FAQ, the team revealed that Marvel’s Avengers will in fact be delisted from digital storefronts on the 30th of September, meaning Square Enix is entirely done with the game and is pretty much killing it dead. The one silver lining however is the fact that both multiplayer and single player will still be entirely accessible – at least for the foreseeable future.
