It has been quite some time since we last had an update on Payday 3. The game was announced back in 2020, and funding for the game was secured in 2021. The game entered full production in 2022 and now just as the calendar turned over to the new year, a new teaser trailer has been released.
This week, Overkill Software published a new teaser trailer for PayDay 3, revealing the game's logo and a small amount of in-engine, pre-alpha footage. The studio also used this opportunity to reaffirm that the game is due to release later this year.
This all follows on from an update from Starbreeze CEO, Tobias Sjögren, who recently said in an interview that the game is “coming along really well” and added that it is on track to release in 2023.
While it seems PayDay 3 is coming this year, it is worth keeping in mind that the game hasn't been in production for very long and some key decisions, such as whether or not to move to Unreal Engine 5, were only made in the last nine months, going by Overkill's 2022 AMA.
If the game remains on track for 2023, we should see gameplay and get plenty more details before the end of the year.
