Final Fantasy 16 is exclusive to PS5 for six months, but PC version will take longer

As excited as many of us were to see Final Fantasy 16 announced, the game being exclusive to PlayStation 5 withered that excitement for many. Fortunately, the game has been confirmed for PC, but it will be arriving significantly later than the console version.

In an interview this week, Final Fantasy 16 producer, Naoki Yoshida, confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 is indeed exclusive to PS5 for six months. However, that does not mean the PC version will be ready to ship within six months of the PS5 version's release.

“I'd like to touch on the PC version”, Yoshida said. “First of all, it is true that Final Fantasy XVI is a six-month limited time exclusive on the PS5 platform. However, it is a completely different story that the PC version will be released within half a year. I will make it clear, the PC version will not come out in half a year”.

Square Enix is currently focusing all of its efforts on the PS5 version and isn't actively optimising the PC version alongside it. Square Enix took a similar approach with Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII Remake for PC, with both games coming to PC long after the initial console launch.
