Naughty Dog teases The Last of Us Factions with new concept art

While it was initially a shame to hear that The Last of Us Part II was not going to launch with a Factions multiplayer mode, this quickly dissipated when it was revealed that a standalone dedicated Factions game was in the works. While we have yet to see any concrete footage from this much-anticipated live-service title, Naughty Dog have satiated fans with an intriguing piece of concept art.

Making the announcement on their blog as part of a post titled ‘Reflecting on a Big Year to Come for The Last Of Us’ Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann – alongside revealing that The Last of Us series has sold almost 40 million copies – gave fans a small tease for what they can expect from the upcoming Factions game, saying:

“We’re looking ahead to The Last of Us’ 10th anniversary in June, and we’re so excited to share more with you about the future of this franchise. We’ll have some fun surprises for you along the way, but later this year we will begin to offer you some details on our ambitious The Last of Us multiplayer game.”

Druckmann continued, “With a team led by Vinit Agarwal, Joe Pettinati, and Anthony Newman, the project is shaping up to be a fresh, new experience from our studio, but one rooted in Naughty Dog’s passion for delivering incredible stories, characters, and gameplay. We first shared concept art of the project with you last year, and we hope this new piece of concept art below further excites you for what our team is working on.”

As with the first piece of concept art released, this latest teaser seems to further the idea that this Factions game is going to be quite wide in scope, with the map seemingly being bigger even than anything we saw in The Last of Us Part II.

Of course, we will have to wait a bit longer for more concrete details, but this latest tease is certainly getting me excited.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the art shared? Are you excited for this game? What does it need to have to succeed? Let us know down below.
