Fntastic co-founders claim The Day Before delay was planned before trademark dispute

The Day Before has garnered a lot of hype over the past year, going on to become the most wishlisted game on Steam. Unfortunately, just over a month from the game's supposed March 1st release date, the game has been delayed and fans are beginning to question the game's existence. Now, the two co-founders behind developer Fntastic have spoken up on the speculation.

The Day Before was due to launch on the 1st of March in Early Access. However, this week it was revealed that the studio behind the game, Fntastic, does not own the trademark, as the game was announced before the company filed for it. Now, a private individual holds the trademark for the game's name, and Fntastic has yet to resolve the situation. Fntastic announced this yesterday, alongside a delay of the game, pushing it back from March to November, a planned gameplay reveal was also delayed.

As it turns out, The Day Before was already going to be delayed prior to the trademark issue. According to Fntastic co-founders, Eduard and Aisen Gotovtsev, speaking with IGN, the delay was already planned with The Day Before's publisher, Mytona. If that is the case, then it would lead us to question why the March 1st release date was promoted mere weeks ago in a segment for Nvidia's CES keynote.

As for concerns around the game's existence, Fntastic's two founders aren't too worried, saying: “The storm will calm down eventually, and time will put everything in its place. When the game comes out, people will finally see the truth”.

The Day Before is now scheduled to release on the 10th of November.
