CES 2023: XMG unveils new-gen laptops including liquid-cooled models

XMG has been making a name for itself in the laptop space for a while now. At CES this week, we swung by to check out the new range, including new models built with Intel's new 13th Gen Core mobile processors and Nvidia's RTX 40 series laptop GPUs.

The XMG lineup is broken up into a few different models – the XMG Focus, the XMG Pro, the XMG Neo and the XMG Ultra. The Focus series will ship in 15/16/17-inch sizes, with up to an Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU and RTX 4070 graphics. Meanwhile, the Pro line is available in 15-inch and 17-inch models, but under the hood, you'll still be getting up to a Core i9-13900HX and up to an RTX 4070 GPU.

The XMG Neo laptops are a bit more high-end, packing the Core i9 alongside up to an RTX 4090 GPU in 16-inch or 17-inch form factors. Finally, the XMG Ultra is the highest-end laptop of them all, shipping with a 17-inch display and up to a 13th Gen Core i9 processor and RTX 4090 graphics.

The highest-end XMG laptops support the full 175W power draw allowed by Nvidia's new RTX 40 GPUs, so you'll be getting the most performance possible. The cooler is capable of handling around 300W of sustained power using a huge vapour chamber. With the cooler in place, the top-end XMG laptop can sustain the RTX 4090 under load for lengthy periods of time without issues.

The XMG Neo laptops stand out from the pack thanks to the addition of liquid cooling. The laptop has a heatpipe cooling system under the hood, but you can hook up a liquid cooler to the laptop through a magnetic quick-connect port, allowing for even lower temperatures and potentially improved performance by creating some extra thermal headroom for overclocking.

XMG laptops also come with overclockable DDR5 memory. In one example, we were shown the DDR5 memory running at 6400MHz and you can also change timings.

All of XMG's new 2023 laptops will be arriving over the next few months but there could be more in store for us later in the year. On XMG's product roadmap, we see that the company is already planning new models with AMD hardware, including the newly launched Ryzen 7000 series mobile processors and AMD's updated laptop GPUs.

KitGuru Says: Have any of you used an XMG laptop before? What do you think of their new 2023 range so far?
