Sonic Frontiers released late last year to great fanfare from long-time supporters of the series. What’s more, the general audience seemed to agree with the sentiment, with the open-zone game being one of the most well-received titles in years. If you have yet to be sold on the game, SEGA has now dropped a demo for Sonic Frontiers on the Nintendo Switch.
Previously only available in Japan, a demo for Sonic Frontiers has now dropped onto the Nintendo Switch internationally, allowing the 100 million+ Switch owners to give the game a shot.
It is interesting to see that the demo is only available on Switch, especially as the game can be purchased on pretty much every modern console – including the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One. Still, with the Switch being the weakest of all the systems hardware-wise, it is the version with the most compromises, and so it makes some sense that if the demo were to be released on a single platform, the Switch would be it.
If – following the demo – you decided you did want to purchase Sonic Frontiers, the Nintendo Eshop is currently running a promotion, cutting 30% off the price of the Digital Deluxe Edition to bring it down from £54.99 to £38.49.
Demos are a great way to gauge whether a game is for you or not. While it is odd to see the demo for Sonic Frontiers release after the launch of the game, it is welcome nonetheless.
