One of the most anticipated titles for 2023 is the upcoming remake of the survival horror classic Resident Evil 4. Originally released in 2005, the game’s remake is set to launch in just a few short months on the 24th of March. Ahead of this date, the team has confirmed that all the major elements from the original game will remain in the remake – including the Island section.
Capcom’s Resident Evil remakes have in the past taken creative liberties with both the story and gameplay of these titles. In some cases this was met with a positive reception, but in the case of others (such as with Resident Evil 3) the cut content did not sit well with fans.
While we already knew that RE4 Remake will be roughly as long as the original game length-wise, the team has now confirmed that the controversial Island section will be kept, with them revealing (via EDGE Magazine and shared by ‘AestheticGamer1 aka Dusk Golem’ on Twitter) that the remake was developed with three major sections in mind: The Village, Castle and Island.
What’s more, the Island section will reportedly have “a lot more to it” than in the original RE4 – though the team did not elaborate on this further. Given the rather controversial nature to the Island section in the original game, it is interesting to see that the team is not only keeping it in, but is developing it further. It will be interesting to see just how different (or similar) RE4 Remake is to the 2005 original.
