PSVR2 exclusive Horizon Call of the Mountain officially goes GOLD

The PlayStation VR2 is set to launch later this month alongside a slew of virtual reality games. One of the headset’s premiere launch titles – Horizon Call of the Mountain – has now officially gone gold, meaning the game is unlikely to be pushed past its 22nd of February release date.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Guerrilla Games account revealed that “We're thrilled to share some exciting news today: Horizon Call of the Mountain has gone GOLD! Not long to go before you can step into the adventure. #CalloftheMountain”

Horizon Call of the Mountain is undoubtedly one of the biggest titles set to launch alongside PSVR2 and so it will be interesting to see what the reception will be towards this title. The Horizon series has always offered a 3rd person experience in an open world, and so we will have to wait and see how much the shift to first-person and VR is received by fans.

‘Going Gold’ means that the Horizon Call of the Mountain master disc has been submitted to PlayStation. Following the submission of the gold master, discs can be pressed with finished software and digital storefronts can upload the ‘final’ version of the game ready for release. It’s a process that every game in development goes through, and means that (aside from post-launch patches) Horizon Call of the Mountain is complete and ready to play.

First-party PlayStation games typically launch with a great deal of polish and so hopefully Horizon Call of the Mountain does for PSVR2 what the first Horizon managed to achieve for PS4. We won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
