EA Motive begins production on Iron Man game

EA's Motive studio had a slow start, beginning as a support studio on Battlefront 2 before spending some time working on its own IP, which was later cancelled. The studio had its first hit with Star Wars: Squadrons, and impressed us again this year with Dead Space Remake. Now, Motive is turning its efforts towards Iron Man, which has officially entered production.

We learned through interviews in late 2022 that EA Motive's Iron Man game was still in pre-production. It would seem that the studio now has that foundation in place and has begun production. This period of development is by far the longest, as it includes building out the game, generating assets, tweaking systems and squashing bugs.

Aside from Iron Man, EA Motive is also keen to continue working on Dead Space and is hoping to get the green light from the executives at EA soon. With that in mind, EA Motive may expand into a multi-project studio with a sizable budget at hand.

Iron Man was announced last year as part of an effort to both get ahead of leaks and recruit developers for the team. EA Motive has had quick turnaround times with Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space Remake, but we would expect Iron Man to take a bit longer. It most definitely won't be a 2023 title, but perhaps we'll get a progress update before the year comes to an end.

KitGuru Says: EA Motive has impressed with its releases so far. Hopefully, this run of success will continue with Iron Man in the years ahead.
