Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti to bring RTX 3070-level performance for under $500

This week, new rumours regarding Nvidia's RTX 4060 Ti GPU have hit the web. As per the latest reports, the upcoming mid-range graphics card will deliver the same performance as the RTX 3070, but at a lower price. Unfortunately, it's not yet clear exactly how much less it will cost.

The claims mentioning the level of performance are from kopite7kimi, but the pricing reports come from MyDrivers. Considering both reports, the RTX 4060 Ti will likely only bring a small improvement to the price-performance ratio of the RTX 3070, at least if we take MSRPs (RTX 3070 has a $500 MSRP) into account. However, the RTX 3070 was almost always priced above its MSRP, so if you can grab the 4060 Ti for less than $500, it could be a better buy than the RTX 30 series card.

According to the latest rumours, the RTX 4060 Ti will feature an AD106 GPU with 4,352 CUDA cores and 32MB of L2 cache on a short board using a PCIe 5.0 connector. The memory subsystem will consist of 8GB of GDDR6 memory running at 18Gbps. Based on these memory secs, it only makes sense for the memory bus to be either 256 or 128-bit, most likely the latter, but it's not yet confirmed. All this comes with a 160W TDP.

The Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti is expected to release around the same time as the RTX 4070. That is expected to happen sometime during Q1 2023 or early Q2.

KitGuru says: As we've seen with other RTX 40 series GPUs, the new graphics cards are more expensive than their predecessors. With the RTX 4060 Ti, it seems the trend will continue, but at least we'll have a GPU below $500.
