AMD ends RX 6000 driver drought

Earlier this month AMD addressed its ongoing lack of new drivers for previous-generation graphics cards. While the new RX 7000 series GPUs have had driver updates, those using AMD's older-gen cards have gone months without an update. That finally changes this week, with AMD bringing the driver drought to an end.

Yesterday, AMD began rolling out AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1, bringing performance improvements and optimisations for RX 6000 graphics cards in particular. The new update adds support for RX 6000 GPUs in Dead Space Remake and Forspoken. The new driver also improves performance in a number of popular titles, with gains of 10% in Cyberpunk 2077, a 20% improvement versus launch drivers in World of Warcraft, a 27% improvement in F1 2022 and more. You can see the breakdown in the slides below:

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1 also brings features originally introduced on the Radeon RX 7900 Series to Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards, including H.264 and H.265 streaming optimisations and connectivity improvements for AMD Link across all supported Radeon products.
