Primate Labs releases Geekbench 6 to Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android devices

Geekbench 6, the most recent edition of the cross-platform benchmark, has arrived, bringing with it new and enhanced testing procedures for measuring the performance of your CPUs and GPUs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android devices.

Geekbench's latest version has been designed to keep up with the latest developments in the tech industry, bringing a slew of new features, testing workloads, revamped UI, and much more. Starting with the new test, Geekbench has always been based on real-world use scenarios and contemporary technology. However, the latest version takes it up a notch, upgrading old workloads and developing numerous new ones. These include blurring backgrounds in video conferencing, image editing for social media, removing unwanted objects from photos, detecting and tagging things in photos using machine learning, and converting text using scripting languages.

Datasets processed by these workloads have also been updated to better fit within today's most used file types and sizes. The changes to the datasets range from using high-resolution photos and maps in image and navigation tests to more complex documents in the PDF and HTML5 browser tests and developer workloads.

Geekbench 6's multi-core benchmark tests have also been significantly improved. Instead of providing distinct tasks to each core, tests now assess how well cores collaborate to execute a common job. This method increases the relevance of multi-core tests and makes them more suitable for evaluating heterogeneous core performance. That makes sense, considering the rising trend of including “performance” and “efficient” cores on chips.

To commemorate its launch, Primate Labs will be running a 20% launch sale for Geekbench 6 Pro until February 28. For personal use, Geekbench 6 is and will continue to be free. You can download the new benchmark tool HERE.
