The Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct has come and gone, bringing with it some expected announcements as well as a few surprises. Though its existence was leaked beforehand, Tango Gameworks of The Evil Within fame simultaneously announced and released Hi-Fi Rush – a rhythm focused action game “where the world syncs to the music.”
Available to purchase right now on PC and Xbox Series X|S, Hi-Fi Rush has you “Feel the beat as wannabe rockstar Chai and his ragtag team of allies rebel against an evil tech megacorp with raucous rhythm combat!”
Interestingly, Hi-Fi Rush’s unique mechanics not only serve a gameplay purpose, but a story one too, as lead character Chai has been “Labeled ‘defective’ after a shady corporate experiment mistakenly fuses a music player to his heart, [meaning] Chai must now fight for his freedom in a slick animated world where everything – platforming puzzles, enemy attacks and even the colorful gags & banter – are synced to the beat.”
Hi-Fi Rush includes a blend of original music as well as licensed songs from the likes of Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy, The Joy Formidable and more. Hi-Fi Rush’s unique gameplay is matched only by its equally interesting art style, making for a game which is very different from the team’s previous efforts – though hopefully just as quality.
Hi-Fi Rush is available to purchase right now on PC and Xbox Series X|S for £26.99, though the title is of course also available day-one on Xbox Game Pass.
