Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater might be teasing an upcoming announcement

Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, skateboarding was all the rage, with the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game series in particular being massive during the PS1/2 generations. In celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary, THPS’ social media accounts have started to show new signs of life – possibly hinting at an upcoming announcement.

In going to any of the official Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater social media channels, you can find an updated set of iconography, profile pictures and banners to signify and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the much-loved series.

While this could simply be a month-long celebration / look-back at the history of the series, many fans are hoping that this could all be part of a marketing strategy for an unannounced game.

For the uninitiated, after many less-than-stellar games, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater returned in a massive way in 2020 with the successful and much-loved Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remake. Unfortunately, despite the high praise, it was revealed that Activision canned plans for a remake of THPS 3 and 4 – disappointing many.

That said, last year, following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, insiders claimed that the company was looking to bring back the Tony Hawk franchise in one way or another. Perhaps this 25th anniversary marks the beginning of these plans? We will unfortunately simply have to wait and see.
